Overname

Het hing al een tijdje in de lucht. K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen was op zoek naar een overnemer. Na de recente intrede van buitenlandse eigenaars in het Belgische voetbal wordt het duidelijk dat nieuwe middelen aangeboord moeten worden om competitief te zijn en een uitbouw naar een stabiele en professionele traditieclub te kunnen vrijwaren. Na een uitgebreide screening van verschillende kandidaat-investeerders is de club verheugd het volgende nieuws te melden. De beste en meest concrete piste voor de toekomst werd gevonden in Dhr. Devonport en partners. De groepering rond Dhr. Devonport is Londen-based en heeft wereldwijde vertakkingen in residentiële en niet-residentiële development projecten.

Stijn Stijnen: “Na verschillende maanden van voorbereidende gesprekken is het tijd om te landen. De nieuwe investeerder wenst te benadrukken de club de middelen te geven om een fulltime professionele club te worden en om verder stappen te zetten in dit tot nu toe sportieve succesvol project”

Belangrijk was om sterke financiële schouders te vinden in het post-corona tijdperk. De volgende jaren zal er door sportief verantwoordelijke Stijn Stijnen verder kunnen gewerkt worden naar een fulltime professionele club en op het reeds ingeslagen pad van succes van de voorbije twee jaar. De transfers die de laatste weken gerealiseerd zijn en de professionalisering van de staf is daar een eerste stap van.

De tweede stap is de uitbouw van het extra-sportieve plan. De nieuwe CEO kijkt er naar uit om snel naar Maasmechelen te komen om er zowel op als naast het veld een mooi en succesvol verhaal van te maken.

De toekomst oogt goed met respect voor het verleden

In de zoektocht naar een nieuwe investeerder dienden deze potentiële kandidaten dezelfde waarden te hanteren als ook respect te hebben voor de geschiedenis van onze club en zijn supporters. Ook andere stakeholders zoals sponsors, partners, sportieve en extra-sportieve protagonisten zijn aan bod gekomen tijdens de onderhandelingen. De ingeslagen weg van de voorbije twee jaar moeten verder gezet worden. De jeugdwerking krijgt hier ook een belangrijke plaats en tijdens onze zoektocht naar de  optimaalste partner werd gelet op het respect voor de lokale verankering. Er is een duidelijk uitgesproken intentie om samen met lokale actoren het veelbelovende sportparkcomplex verder te ontwikkelen en zo de club extra-sportief op hetzelfde niveau te brengen als het sportieve.

"Er ligt een stevig masterplan op tafel," zegt Stijn Stijnen. "De voorbije jaren zijn we regelmatig op de limieten gebotst van wat een club kan betekenen in 1ste Nationale. De nieuwe investeerder moest dus een aanvulling zijn op de sterktes die onze club al bezit. Als je verder kan bouwen op goede fundamenten, oogt de toekomst zeer goed

Nieuwe stap, nieuwe mijlpaal

In deze moeilijke tijden die niemand ooit gekend heeft is het bijzonder dat K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen een definitieve stap kan zetten richting professionalisering. Het sportieve plan van de club zal er in bestaan om te werken aan een eigen identiteit waar alle stakeholders trots op en betrokken zullen zijn. Zodra het reizen onder Covid-19 het toelaat zal de nieuwe investeerder toenadering zoeken tot de lokale overheid en burgemeester aangaande de mogelijkheden op de site. Ook de focus op de ontwikkeling van de jeugd blijft een speerpunt en uiteraard zal er interactie zijn met de verschillende netwerken rond de protagonisten die kort met de club betrokken zijn. Naast een operationele sportieve en operationele extra-sportieve werking zal er een rol zijn vanuit het lokale gedachtegoed en de lokale partners inzake hun expertise omtrent de ontwikkelingen van en rondom de club.

K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen is tevens verheugd dat Dhr. Azimi minstens de volgende 5 jaar één van de hoofdsponsors zal blijven van de club. De operationele werking alsook zijn huidige functie worden omgezet in vlakke bestuurlijke lijnen tussen de sportieve, extra-sportieve en jeugdwerking van de club. K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen wenst Dhr. Azimi uitdrukkelijk te bedanken voor zijn engagement de voorbije jaren en voor de betrokkenheid als sponsor de volgende jaren. De sportieve resultaten van de voorbije jaren zijn een hefboom voor de verdere ontwikkeling van de club.

Stijn Stijnen: “Ik wil benadrukken dat Dhr. Azimi de juiste persoon op de juiste plaats was. De sportieve successen met een kampioenschap als kers op de taart in zijn eerste seizoen zal voor altijd een unicum zijn en een meer dan een voetnoot in de geschiedenis van de club”

Forza 2021

De administratieve verplichtingen omtrent de overdracht zijn aldus achter de rug. De overdrachtsplannen zullen omwille van de huidige situatie omtrent Covid-19 in januari meer concretisering krijgen. Dan zal de nieuwe eigenaar zijn verder plannen toelichten en bekend maken. K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen dankt alle actoren die zich 100%  hebben ingezet voor deze overname en dankt Dhr. Devonport in zijn vertrouwen in de club en zijn engagement en wenst hem veel succes toe de volgende jaren.

Takeover

The search for a new investor by K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen has been hanging in the air for some time. After the recent trending arrivals of foreign owners it has become particularly clear that new resources had to be found in order to be competitive and expand to a stable and professional traditional football club. After an extensive screening of potential investors we are delighted to come out with following news. The best and most tangible path as an acquirer was found in Mr. Devenport and partners. The investor is London based and operates in residential and non-residential development projects.

Stijn Stijnen: “After several months of preparatory talks, it is time to land. The new acquirer wishes to emphasise the hand over resources to take further steps in this already succesfull project.”

One of the main priorities was to find an investor to build up a strong and long-term financial certainty in a post-Corona era. Within the following years technical and sporting director Stijn Stijnen will have the opportunity to develop a fulltime professional football club and to continue the steps on the path of succes from the last 2 years. The communication from the last few weeks concerning incoming transfers of players, as well as the further professionalisation of the staff, was already the first steps in this process.

The second step will be the development of the extra-sporting side of the club. Mr. Devonport is looking forward to flying over to Maasmechelen to make this a succesfull project in everyway.

The future looks bright with respect of our history

In the search of new investors, potential candidates had to find the same values important and respect the history of our club and its supporters. Other stakeholders such as partners, sponsors, sporting and extra-sporting actors were introduced during the negotiations. It is imperative that the club would be able to continue on the same path from the last 2 years. Also, the Patro Eisden Youth Academy and the project around our football instructions were given an important place in the search for the best possible investor. The local roots and branch venture capital are of great importance to us.

The extra-sportif curriculum is to revive the ‘sportparkcomplex’ together with local partners, to reallocate the site and to develop the club. We have to bring the extra-sportif side to the same level of a legitament and professional football club.

Stijn Stijnen: “Last year we reached a certain level of limitation in our current division, so we reached out to an investor that can complement the strengths of our club. The future looks bright if you build on already strong existing foundations.

New future steps, new milestones

In these never seen difficult times it is important that the K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen can take defintive steps to further professionalisation.

The sporting side of the club will work towards an established identity that all stakeholders will be proud of and will be involved with. As soon as Mr. Devonport can travel he will take action to meet the municipal counsel, as well as the Mayor, to discuss potential possibilities to develop the site. The priority of this development will be to focus on the future of the Patro Eisden Youth Academy, and the interaction with more local partners and all networks involved. Next to the operational sporting side, as well as the extra-sporting side, a role will be created for local expertise concerning the development of the club.

K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen is pleased to announce that Mr. Azimi will maintain his sponsering for the next 5 years. A new flat management structure between the sporting side, the extra-sporting side, as well as the youth functioning, will be implemented after the departure of Mr. Azimi as president. K. Patro Eisden wishes to express his upmost gratitude for the work of Mr. Azimi during the past years, as well as his involvement as sponsor for the following years. All the recent sporting succes is an amazing assist for Mr. Devonport to succeed.

Forza 2021

All administrative obligations concering the takover are complete. The plans concerning the takeover will be explained by the new owner in January due to the current Covid-19 situation. K. Patro Eisden Maasmechelen explicitly wishes to thank all actors who were involved in this takeover. We thank Mr. Devonport for his trust in the club and we wish him all the succes in the future.
